answers>>>>
Doctor, what
is Plastic Surgery for you?
Well, it is not easy to explain it briefly.
First, Plastic Surgery is the art of changing our own body. It includes a set of surgical techniques that medical science has developed with the purpose of helping us to improve
it.
The objective is always to give
us an answer to the problem of a part of our body that, in some cases
due to aesthetic
reasons, in others due to accidents or malformations, we want to modify and to improve,
in a realistic way.
It is
true that today our image is becoming more and more important in our society.
And,
what can Plastic Surgery do for us?
Nowadays Plastic Surgery allows
us to obtain results that we could not think to atteining before with the suitable quality levels and security.
In the hands of a plastic surgeon we can be able to enlarge,
lift or reduce the breasts, to remove isolated deposits of fat, to improve the profile of a nose or to correct
the shape and position of ears.
Each patient is different, I have never had two equal ones and each case must be studied personally.
Like plastic surgeon,
what is the goal in this kind of surgery?
The objective is
to achieve harmony in the body and face of my patients so that they
can finally feel well when
they look at
themselves in the mirror.
At the moment that the patient makes the decision of undergoing surgery, one of the
facts that more worry to them is safeness, what can you say
about it?
I always
tell to my patients
that in aesthetic surgery we have a great advantage with respect to another
type of interventions and it is that our patients are in the first place healthy patients.
This minimizes risks compared to operations due to disease or after a serious accident.
All our patients undergo a complete preoperative evaluation which
include blood analysis, electrocardiogram and others test depending on the characteristics of patients.
The first rule of a surgeon is
to
follow the aphorism of Hipócrates that says “ Primum non nocere”,
it means, “first, do no harm” and we must put all our effort to
achieve it.
And, Doctor,
how do you achieve this?
In the first place,
find a plastic and aesthetic surgeon, with a qualified formation and demonstrated experience.
And
what about anesthesia?
Nowadays
everything is perfectly controlled. We make preoperative tests
to every patient that includes a complete blood analysis, electrocardiogram and
chest rediography. These data are studied in all cases by the anesthetist and if all the parameters are
normal, we undertake the procedure.
Where are the operations made?
Always in operating rooms
(OR) that have
the staff and technicians required to assure a good result of the intervention with the
best quality and security.
Here,
much more that in other human activity, security is the first.
Which are the
most frequent interventions of aesthetic surgery , Doctor?
It changes from one
season
to another.
The most solicited intervention is breast surgery, mainly
breast enlargement, next
liposuction,
rhinoplasty,
eyelid surgery and
abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
The most frequent interventions
in men are
rhinoplasty (nose reshaping),
otoplasty (ears) and liposuction
of the abdomen, tummy and stomach area.
How
do patients feel after undergoing aesthetic surgery?
Thanks to asking this
question. I always ask this question to my pacients when we finish the treatment and many of them respond that
theirs lives have change in the way that they feel better with themselves,
they have more self-confidence and they have improved their relationships with others
pleople.
For instance, many of them almost forget their previous image and feel
as if they always had this new image.
Some patients
tell me when they leave my office: “Doctor, thanks you for making
me so happy”.
These words are the most important
thing for me, and represent the biggest
acknowledgment to my job.
